January 1, Tuesday

Snowed in the night so Tom and Son had to shovell off the walk. Lucy went back to school gave 10. Mother died 34 years ago to day. Mrs. Wm McVicar died age 63. Fred H. Fassett died age 76.

January 2, Wednesday

Attended the Struters funeral. Went to Lemon.

January 3, Thursday

Bought from Cortright 3 pictures Wm. Pimm & C 75 cts.

January 4, Friday

Henry took me to Wilkes Barre, went to see Dr. Porneray. Paid him 2.50. Paid H S Smith for work on incom tax for the Lewis & me $50. We came home ? Dallas Noxen & Beaumont.

January 5, Saturday

Went to Lake Carey & Lemon and La Grange. Paid Frances to date $6.00

January 6, Sunday

Stanley and Betty took dinner with us. Went to church. Pam went pack to school. Gave her 10.

January 7, Monday

Paid Frances 50 cts.  Paid paper bill to Feb 1, 1935. I surrendered by mail box at the post office. Helen went back I gave her 10.

January 8, Tuesday

Went to Meshoppen and Mehoopany. Bank election in afternoon. Jack F. Parker of Wilkes Barre died age 93, he used to live her in Tunkhannock.

January 9, Wednesday

Rained part of the day. Went to the Falls & back of Schultzville in the country and came pretty near getting stuck in the mud. Bank meeting. Paid Granny 9.50.

January 10, Thursday

Went to Falls & Wallville. Gave Eleanor $20 to go to NY.

January 11, Friday

Went to Mill City and Lemon. Eleanor went to New York. Belle took supper with us. Rev. Milton L. Cook of Wyalusing died.

January 12, Saturday

Went to Lake Winola and Wallville with Henry. Paid Frances 6.00.

January 13, Sunday

Snowed some. Went with Henry to Lake Winola and Clarks Summit. Granny and I took dinner with Henry & Eleanor. Eleanor came home. Cecil Hahn’s son born.

January 14, Monday

Stanley and Betty went to Harrisburg. Rowland went to harrisburg with the High School Band to the inauguration of Gov Earl, Bought from Mrs. Harry Baker Hudson from peekskill 50cts.

January 15, Tuesday

In the forenoon I went to Meshoppen, Laceyville and Wyalusing in the afternoon went to Beaumont, Dallas & Vernon. I bought from Mrs. Newman of Vernon [detail omitted.] Granny had card party.

Went to Mehoopany in the morning and Wallville in the afternoon. Mrs. Helen Wynd Harry dau born.

January 17, Thursday

Henry and I went to Wilkes Barre. Bought US Grand glass dish 1.00 and small loop goblet WB 25cts. Bought from Laidachu Masonic bottle 1.00, Deer & Pinetree goblet Laidacher 1.00, sawtiolle goblet laidacher 50 cts., Mrs. Mary O’Niell Evans dau born.

January 18, Friday

Went to Lemon in the afternoon. Spent the evening with Henry, he was 28 years old to day.

January 19, Saturday

Henry and wife, Granny and I went to Wilkes Barre and bought Henry an old table from Sam Laidachor 16.00. It was Henry’s birthday present from Granny and me. Mrs. Louis M. Hall of Towanda died born Dec 14, 1871, died Jan 19, 1935.

January 20, Sunday

Rained part of the day. Went to the Falls & Lake Winola. Stanley & Betty took dinner with us.

January 21, Monday

Rain in the morning. Went to the Falls Shultzville & Lake Winola and Lake Carey in the afternoon. Ernest G. Hahn and Frances L. Marey married.

January 22, Tuesday

Went to Meshoppen and Black Walnut in the morning. Noxen and Beaumont in the afternoon. Paid Frances 3.00 for last week.

January 23, Wednesday

Fire at Montrose. Henry and I went up as far as South Montrose and found the fire was out. Started to snow about 4pm and snowed hard all the rest of the day. Bank meeting John Henning is sick and didn’t attend the meeting. Paid Granny 9.50.

January 24, Thursday

Tom had to clean the snow off the walks. In the afternoon went with Henry to Lemon.

Went to Falls Mill City and Lemon.

Henry and I went to Wilkes Barre to see Mr. Smith about the Income tax. Helen came home. Started to read New Testament through.

Went to the Lake with Henry. Stanley & Betty took dinner with us. Alva Fasset girl home.

Henry took Granny, Eleanor, Marian and Me to Wilkes Barre. I bought Sally a pair of shoes.

Sunday, March 17

Turned cold towards night. Henry and wife took dinner with us. Clara Dana took lunch with use. Eleanor came home.

Aunt Elizabeth Miller Dana Ropes died at 11P.M. age 85. Her first husband Eleazar Dana was my uncle.

Tom started to rake off the lawn. In the morning Henry and I went to Wyalusing Falls and Mill City in the afternoon.

Went to Gay Murry’s party. Went to the movies.

Friday, March 29

In the morning went to Mill city & Falls. In afternoon to Beaumont and Noxen. Mrs. Rittenhouse and Mrs. Eysenbach took supper with us. Helen came home. Bank Meeting. Gave PBM [his wife/Granny] 9.50. Clarence Boston girl born.

Paid Skinner for chicken 1.48. Paid Katie 6.00.

Sunday, March 31

Pam went back to school I gave her 15 and sent Lucy check for 10. In the afternoon Henry took Helen to Wilkes Barre. She was to go from there to school with a girl in her automobile. Granny and I went with them to WB. I have Helen 5.00. Sally is 1 year old.

Monday, April 1

Bought a Ford Coupe from the Fowles Brothers paid 509. and Henry’s old Hudson 125. We own the machine together. Bought from Ida Meade a pair of Canara Vases. They belonged to H H Mitchell. I think they came from England. I paid for them 2.50. Went down to Whites Ferry in the evening. Granny went to card party in the evening.

Clarance Boston took dinner with us. Went to Meshoppen. Bought from Mrs. Clarance Rouse 6 goblets .60 cts, 4 tumblers 20 cts, 6 sause dishes 30 cts, cake stand 15 cts, jelly dish 10 cts, vase 10 cts, butter dish 20 cts, sugar bowl 20 cts, spoon holder 10 cts. Granny went to card party.

Wednesday, April 3

Henry and I went to Wilks Barre to see Mrs. Cusie and Hardachu. Mrs. Hardachu gave Henry and me each an old rug and she gave me an old glass pitcher and plate. I bought from Price of W. Barre an old glass goblet 50 cts. Prayer meeting at our house.

Thursday, April 4

Bought from Jessie Stone large glass goblet 50 cts. Betty birthday, she is 26 years old. I have her 5.00. Helen came home.

Friday, April 5

Henry and I went to Lemon, Beaumont, Centermorland and Vernon.

Went to Mill City and Falls. Paid paper bill to May 1, 1935. Paid Katie 6.00. Granny’s club met here.

In the forenoon went up to the Schulers and bought an old vaseline dish 35 cts. In the afternoon went to Springville.

Snowed all day. Tom had to shovel of the walks. Went to Lake Carey. Granny went to card party.

Snowed hard all the forenoon. Went to Meshoppen and got stuck in the snow and had to shovel out way out. Went to Clark Summitt in the afternoon. the Gardner girls took dinner with us. Granny went to card party.

Henry and I went to Wilkes Barre, Dalas, Harry’s Lake, Noxen, Beaumont. I bought from Price of Wilkes Barre small ?berry pitcher 50 cts, and small red cup plate 50 cts. Loaned Sprout of Meshoppen 2.00.

Thursday, April 11

Went to Centermoreland, Beaumont and Noxen. Mary Harper was in a play at the high school.

Friday, April 12

Went to Vose Bank Meeting. Gave Granny 9.50. Ex County Commissioner Edward W. Farrar of Nicholson died age 86.

Saturday, April 13

Rain in the forenoon. Henry and I went to Forkston to the Lenora Krernsn sale. I bought picture of Anderson prison 1.00. Glass bottle .12 ½ and stone jug .12 ½. Henry bought a marble base lamp 1.00. Bought from Gran Burgus glass spoon holder that belonged to his mother Mrs. A. P. Burgus. Paid Katie 6.00.

Went to Mill City. Asa K. DeWitt died age 81.

Monday, April 15

Rain part of the day. The Ropeses? gave me an old fruit pechin?, it came from Salem Mass. Henry went trout fishing and brought me one. Mr. Ropes said the pechin did not belong in the Ropes family it belonged to my uncle Eleager Dana.

Mrs. Mary E Day died aged 62.

Henry and I went to Noxin, Dallas, and Wilkes Barre. Bought from Price of WB: [detail omitted.] Snowed in the night and part of the day. I started to buy milk from Stevens & Jennings.

Joseph W. Olvin died aged 62.

Went to Lemon in the forenoon. Henry tool Granny, Eleanor and me to Wilkes Barre in the afternoon. Bought a picket goblet from Price of Wilkes Barre 15cts.

Went to Nicholson to ball game. Mary Harper went with Jenny Ogden and a party to the ball game and was in an auto accident but was not hurt.

Bank meeting. Gave Granny 9.00.Gave billy 15. Margaret Mitchell Lee died aged 95. She was living in California.

Went to Mill City in the morning. In the afternoon to Beaumont, Vernon, Centermoreland and Falls. Paid Katie 6.00.

Went to Joe Olvin/Olive’s? funeral. Brought from Mrs. Schular 2 small cordial goblets 20cts.

Went to Sugar Hollow and Whites Ferry. Granny had card party. I had the Dr. come to see Granny’s face.

Party from Scranton came to see the Museum. Bought a small Pine tree goblet from Henry 20cts.

Fremont Cooper died.
