Betty Leap

These hairstyles are too much! You gotta love them. This Betty Leap from the Barboursville, WV Jr. High class of 1940. (Top row, 3rd from right). She’s the daughter of Foster and Ruby Leap. All were born in West Virginia, Betty in 1926. In 1930 the family lived in Huntington, Cabell county, WV where her father worked at the Railroad shop. Betty and family lived in Guyandot, Cabell County, WV in 1940. Foster was listed as an upholsterer for a steam railroad repair shop – who even knew such a job existed! Betty had a younger brother Fred who is mistakenly listed as being “70” in the 1940 census rather than 10. (The importance of reading original documents!). I believe Betty married a Mr. Wheeler. There is a Find a Grave memorial for Betty Lee Leap Wheeler online. She died in 1978.
